XU LI

Professor, CPC member, Dean of School of Foreign Languages and Literature

Professor XU LI was born in 1964. He received his B.A. from Department of Foreign Languages, Tianjin University in 1986, after which he entered Department of Foreign Languages, Tianjin University, to pursue an academic career. He earned his M.A. from Department of Foreign Languages, Tianjin University in 1988. He is now Director of Translators Association of China, Director of Tianjin Advisory Committee on College English Teaching, Deputy-director of Tianjin Translators Association, Deputy-director of Association of Tianjin Foreign Languages and Literature, Deputy-director of Tianjin Comparative Literature Association, and Dean of Research Center of Linguistic Sciences, Tianjin University.

RESEARCH GRANTS:

As a Principal Investigator, Prof LI has won various fundings, which amount to over CHN 300,000 yuan, including fundings from the government and local companies. The major projects include:

1)Criteria for the evaluation of distance education curriculum system

2)Study on the standardization of preparing for multimedia teaching courseware

3)Study on the design of teaching syllabus for the transition from junior college to regular college courses

4)Study on the interactive application of multimedia courseware in the teaching of English translation

5)Study on the networking in the teaching of interpretation

6)Study on the design of courseware for the teaching of interpretation at an advanced level

7)Study on the transition of translation teaching to English majors
