1. Course Description

History of the British novel is an important professional elective course of Chinese Language and Literature. It describes and evaluates British literary trends, literary genre and important novelists’ literary career, creative thinking, artistic, the themes, and characters, structure, language of representative works in different historical periods; and reviews each literary phenomena of the different periods, sorts out the development the law of British fiction. Based on the course as a professional elective courses, the teaching process ad hoc "discussion sessions" link, students can develop the thematic thinking and research about writers, based on understanding of the process of the British novel, and the research process will enhance students' creative thinking and practical ability.

2. Requirements

Require students to read the representative works of famous writers, based on understanding the works of the plot and content, students should analyze the works by themselves . According to students’ actual situations, the teacher teaches knowledge properly with the form of free discussion, so students can receive a deep understanding about the work.
