Course Introduction

Researching on 1980s’ Chinese Literature needs not only to master the complex fate of specific writers and the aesthetic spirit of their works, but also to grasp the abstract spiritual tradition reflected in the mind of contemporary intellectuals. Therefore, the course should be designed to include both the literature phenomena of multiple levels and the inherent unification of literary history conception in order to cultivate students various abilities such as the sensation to the literature work and the consciousness of literary history.

The curriculum takes the form of teaching and discussing, focusing on the thought resources and the literary experiences which 1980s’ literature had brought to contemporary literature. Although it chooses 1980s’ literature as the center, the course is getting through the modern literature, 17 years’ literature, 1990s’ literature and new century literature to better analyze and evaluate 1980s’ literature.
