Course Introduction Anthropological Linguistics focuses on the interdisciplinary edge between cultural anthropology (also known as social anthropology, especially in Europe) and Linguistics, it studies their overlap areas such as "language, thought, culture and their relationship." The purpose of this course is to set up a new perspective from which graduate students are supposed able to master the basic theories and research methods of this emerging discipline, helping them establish an overall cultural outlook that combined with social reality. Learners may able to look at the relationship among science and human languages and cultures with a large social view and a human background. It will study languages and cultures in aim of gaining individual understanding, and research capacity of this discipline. The contents of this course includes fundamental theory lectures, references reading, class discussion on seminar, fieldwork practice, and writing reports and research papers. | |||
