1. Objective
Introduction to Media Literacyis a required course for students major in Chinese Language and Literature.
Introduction to Media Literacyis the core component of theoretical journalism. It is the introductory course for students major in journalism and also, it’s a course of ability oriented education for students in other majors. By cultivating students with the knowledge of media literacy and by visiting media production companies, students are taught to know the whole process of interviewing and broadcasting, thus improving their news reading, analyzing and critical thinking abilities.
2. Course Description
Introduction to Media Literacyrequires students to master the following basic content:
The emergence and evolution of a variety of media, media properties and media relations, media information dissemination activities and functions, the source of social influence of the media, the image of the different social roles of media analysis and reflection, and how to dealing with the media.
