SFL Held Student Employment Analysis Promotion Meeting

On the morning of March 24th, the School of Foreign Languages held a student employment analysis promotion meeting. The school leadership team including Mr. Ma Xiaobao, Mr. Wang Lisong, Ms. Chang Hui, and Mr. Liu Jiaji, all attended the meeting. Also in attendance were the director and deputy director of the English department, the secretary of the English department branch, the person in charge of the discipline of foreign language and literature, all staff members of the Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) Education Center, graduation class advisors, counselors, and academic affairs staff. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Chang Hui.

During the meeting, Mr. Gao Ling, the director of the Student Affairs Office and the secretary of the Youth League Committee, gave a brief introduction of the school's employment work in the past five years and made a research and analysis on the employment situation of the 2023 graduates. He pointed out the current problems and challenges, and proposed six suggestions to strengthen the school's employment work, including expanding the channels of job supply, leveraging the strength of the entire faculty to educate students, increasing the recruitment organization efforts, optimizing career education, providing services for students who pursue further studies, and showing solicitude for the group of students with employment challenges.

Ms. Chang Hui introduced the requirements of the Ministry of Education and the city's employment working group for the employment and entrepreneurship of college graduates, and the recruitment progress of policy-oriented positions and enterprises and public institutions in recent times. Also, Ms. Qu Zhao made a clear presentation of the relevant situation of the China College Students' 'Internet+' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the "Challenge Cup" National College Students Science and Technology Academic Competitions.

In particular, Mr. Wang Lisong laid stress on the severe employment situation for students at present and underlined the construction of the Education of Students by All Members to promote employment. Moreover, He also stressed that students' professional abilities should be polished through various competitions.

Finally, Mr. Ma Xiaobao reiterated that "employment is the responsibility of the entire school" in the meeting. He called on the cooperation of everyone to promote the growth and development of students through academic education in classrooms and comprehensive development in extracurricular activities. This will comprehensively enhance students' competitiveness in the job market and promote the students’ employment of the school.
